Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with results so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
