Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
