Combatants smirk as they ride on the rear of a transport truck, hurrying alongside a line of several dead bodies and moving towards the sinking African sun.

"See such work. Observe this act of ethnic cleansing," a fighter cheers.

The fighter grins as he points the video equipment on his person and his companion fighters, their Rapid Support Forces insignia visible: "The victims shall all perish this way."

These individuals are celebrating a massacre that relief organizations fear resulted in the deaths of over thousands of individuals in the African metropolis of al-Fashir in recent weeks.

An Urban Center Severed from the World

After maintaining the urban area under blockade for nearly 24 months, from the summer the militia proceeded to strengthen its position and prevent access for the surviving inhabitants.

Satellite images demonstrate that forces began to erect a massive earth barrier - a built-up earthen wall - encircling the boundaries of al-Fashir, sealing off roads and preventing relief supplies.

One of the most graphic videos to surface and examined depicted the results of a massacre at a university building on the western side of the community, where scores lifeless forms were observed strewn across the floor.
