Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to reinforce its air defences. Three initial producers have started production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Shahed drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” following six individuals lost their lives and many others injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had launched domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

International Sanctions Impact Russian Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its foreign assets after recent restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement confirmed.
